Current information from The Heritage Foundation
While the Senate has passed their version of the health care takeover bill, do not despair. We have additional opportunities to stop the progression. Remember that the House and the Senate need to come to terms on a compromise bill, but the rhetoric coming from the Senate is rather aggressive toward the House, so this is one opportunity for you to contact both Senators and your Representative. Once a compromise bill is agreed upon, both the House and Senate need to pass it before going to the President for his signature. Another opportunity! National government-run health care reforms cannot be allowed to be passed into law! Not because we oppose reform but because this legislation even if watered down, is a Trojan Horse and the very freedoms and liberties we take for granted hang in the balance.
We can't let up on the pressure! WE MUST BE DILIGENT AND "HAMMER" CONGRESS! We must send in hand-written letters. We have to continually melt down the webservers in Washington with our emails and faxes. We have to overload their switchboards with our phone calls to democrats and republicans alike and ESPECIALLY THE BLUE DOG COALITION. Here's a hint for getting emails through to the Blue Dogs or other representatives outside your district: Use their district office addresses in their contact forms. You can look up their district office address in Section #2, Option 2 in the Contact Center. It's a pain, I know - but if was easy, even a liberal could do it.

As you deliberate on health care reform legislation, I know that you have heard from countless individuals and organizations including retirees, health professionals and many more of your constituents who are deeply concerned about passage of this government-run national health insurance program.
I insist that you oppose the current version of health care reform. The bills passed by both Houses of Congress will imperil our prosperity with crippling tax increases, onerous mandates, and unsustainable spending - yes, it's in the bill. Oppose any plan that would create a government-run health plan to compete in the private market. It is not Constitutional; It is not wanted or needed.
We need a bill that addresses the real problems in health care coverage without taking us down the road to yet another government takeover. Let's call this what it is: socialized medicine - and it is as un-American as it gets. In light of the frequent congressional disregard for constitutional restraints on the federal government, it is utterly irresponsible to vote yes on such a bill, which would establish a huge, new unconstitutional activity of the federal government.
Bottom line, if a health care reform bill is passed by both houses, signed by the President and made law, your vote will be a top issue in the congressional election campaigns of 2010/2012. Personally, health care reform is one of my top hot button issues and it is my goal in 2010 and into 2012 to reverse any socialized medicine bills that might be passed by this current Congress.
Vote NO on any and all versions of health care reform. Don't let this get to the President's desk.
