I think it is time for us to put a stop to this attempt by the Obama administration to prosecute personnel associated with the Bush administration on interrogation techniques. Trying to hold leadership accountable for honestly discharging their duties is reprehensible. Waiting until eight years later to take action, and flipping from one position to the opposite position on the topic at the apparent behest of moveon.org, is the height of political arrogance. We have two choices. 2. Prosecute everyone involved
I want to have the matter dropped entirely and I am formally requesting that you take action to convince this administration to do so. If that is not what you intend to do, then I am formally requesting you to take action to obtain and publish the minutes of all the meetings where these techniques were discussed including who was present, and make them public to dispel all shadows of doubt. Until we make public the minutes of the briefings (not memos summarizing what went on, but the actual minutes) where our Senators and Representatives were told of the techniques to be used to induce captured terrorists to divulge high valued information, we cannot determine who knew what when about water boarding and other techniques. If you are going to support prosecuting our government officials for these acts, we need to prosecute everyone who knew including the Senators and Representatives, irrespective of party affiliation. Please inform me of your decision. |
